I N T E R V I E W   [ Chelsea TV / 19 dec. 2003 ]

Neil Barnett:
How are you?

Mutu:
I'm ok. I am 100% ok. No problem.

Neil:
We were scoring a lot of goals but recently we’ve not been scoring so many, about one a game. Does that concern you?

Mutu:
Yes, because I have to score. I am a striker and I have to do my job. My job is to score. I hope this happens tomorrow and Chelsea win. That’s the most important thing.

Neil:
But the team, it’s not just the striker. The team has to score. Is there a reason the team is not scoring as much as before?

Mutu:
This is true. But we are a team and when we go out on the pitch we want to try to do our job. Our job is to score and for that, it is our fault. Not 100% but the majority of it.

Neil:
Dan Petrescu was here earlier this week, as you know. He was saying that in Romania you are just like David Beckham and they want to know about you everyday.

Mutu:
Yes this is true. They sent the journalists here and stayed around me everyday. When you become a famous player this is the price you have to pay.

Neil:
Is it different in England to how it was in Italy for you?

Mutu:
No because the football is the same everywhere. The language is different. I am trying to improve my language and I’m trying to learn English. When I play it’s the same. Maybe here it’s a bit stronger, more physical and spectacular.

Neil:
And the journalists?

Mutu:
They are very good. They are honest and write only what they see in the game and that is important.

Neil:
We are all looking for a wonderful Chelsea win tomorrow.

Mutu:
Yes I hope so and I hope to score.

Neil:
I must say your English is excellent. Really, I am not just saying that, your English is coming on excellently.

Mutu:
When I arrived, I told you that I’ll try to learn and now I am taking English lessons so maybe in two months I’ll speak better.
