Chelsea-Watford (4:0) [ 16-01-2004 ]

"In Adrian Mutu, we had tonight a performer of the highest quality, although his strike partner Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was not too far behind. To cap the evening, two substitutes in the shape of Eidur Gudjohnsen and the happily-returned Damien Duff, combined to provide the best goal of the game.

Mutu’s goal drought is most definitely over. He found the net twice tonight, the first a case of being in the right place at the right time, the second an expert finish to match his Leicester goal three days ago.

Mutu’s second was the game’s third, scored quarter-of-an-hour from time. Joe Cole started the move, turning away from a couple of challenges and then clipping a lovely pass over the top to the Romanian.

That strike lifted the evening. The Chelsea second-half performance had gone a little flat, as it had done between the first and second goals.

Soon after Mutu had opened the scoring early on, he nearly slipped Lampard through with a deft touch but Pidgeley smothered."
